Claim: A post by Loud Silence Media, a media outlet owned by Kevin Taylor, has suggested that the highest inflation recorded under former president John Mahama was 15%.

Verdict: False

Explanation: The Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition combed through data provided by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) between 2013 and 2016 when NDC flagbearer, John Mahama, was President. Bank of Ghana’s annual inflation figures ranged between 13.5% and 17.7% for the period.

Years Annual inflation rate
201313.5%
201417.0%
201517.7%
201615.4%
Source: Bank of Ghana

From the above, the highest inflation recorded by the Mahama administration was 17.7% and not 15% as Loud Silence Media claimed.
