Claim: A TikTok user shared a video attributing a statement made by South Africa’s former president, Nelson Mandela, to ex-President John Dramani Mahama, claiming: “Wait and see what Nelson Mandela said about Mahama.”

Source: finderek1/TikTok. (Archived here).

Verdict: False

Explanation: Research by the Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition using Google Lens revealed that the excerpt attributed to Nelson Mandela originated from an interview conducted by Ted Koppel at the Aaron Davis Hall, City College of New York. This occurred well before John Dramani Mahama became a significant figure in Ghanaian politics.

Additionally, Mandela passed away in December 2013, and he couldn’t have made any statements about Mahama in 2024.
