Misleading! There is no resistance to military at Aflao border

Fact-check Ghana
December 7, 2024
A section of the travelling public is stranded after the closure of the Ghana-Togo border on Friday
SHARE

Claim: X user @StatsGH shared a video alleging people resist security manipulation at the Aflao border.

Verdict: Misleading

Explanation: Checks by the Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition reveal that while the border is closed, leaving some Ghanaians stranded between the Ghana and Togo borders, there is no evidence of resistance to security manipulation. Some residents were, however, seen in the video chanting the opposition NDC’s anthem. Although there is a military presence at the border, a journalist stationed at the scene confirms the atmosphere is calm.
