A statement outlining names of some personalities selected to be considered for the vice-presidential candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been circulating across social media platforms.

The statement is purported to have been released by the national secretariat of the NDC and has been signed by the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

The viral statement has however been debunked by the NDC. On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, the NDC released a statement on their official twitter handle (@OfficialNDCGh) debunking the said statement as fake and the creation of some unscrupulous people.

“The general public is therefore advised to ignore such frivolous and fictitious letter which is clearly a creation of some unscrupulous people, who want to divert attention from serious burning national issues,” the statement said.
