False! Pornhub is not accepting applications for porn actors in Ghana

On November 6, 2023, a post emerged on X (formerly Twitter) suggesting that the popular pornographic aggregator website, pornhub, is accepting applications for actors in Ghana. 

The post appears to be a screenshot of an imessage supposedly from pornhub acknowledging approval of an application that has been submitted.

“Your application for pornstar in porn industry has been approved. Contact [email protected] for more information There will be a rehearsal next week at 2642 ave, East Legon, Ghana. Thank you, pornhub,” the message said.

As at the time this report was filed, the post has reached over 31,000 users on the platform.

Fact-Check Ghana’s verification has shown that the message is false and pornhub is not engaging in any form of recruitment or rehearsals in Ghana.

To verify the post, Fact-Check Ghana conducted a reverse image search of the photo and found that the same photo was first posed on X on September 6, 2021.

Our search also revealed that the address stated “2642 ave, East Legon, Ghana” does not exist. 

Fact-Check Ghana also sent an email to the address stated in the message. The response from the sent email appeared that the recipient’s inbox is full suggesting that many people have sent emails to the said address. 

The team went further to contact Pornhub through its official email address to confirm the circulating claim. 

In a response, Pornhub said, “We do not take porn actor applications and the information you saw on social media was not published or created by us.” 

This shows that post circulating on X suggesting that pornhub is accepting applications and is having a rehearsal session at East Legon is completely false.
