A job vacancy advert circulating online indicates that the Legal Aid Commission, Ghana, is recruiting an Assistant IT Officer.

Among the websites that have published the job advert are here and here.

Fact-check Ghana has verified this claim and presents the findings below.

Claim: “Legal Aid Commission invites applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians for employment in a reputable Public Service Organization as Assistant Information Technology IT Officer.”

Verdict: False.

Explanation: On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Legal Aid Commission, Ghana, issued a disclaimer and categorically denied advertising any vacancy.

According to the Commission, it has “not received any official clearance to conduct recruitment, and no hiring process is currently underway. Any individual or group claiming to facilitate employment within the Commission is acting fraudulently and without authorization.”

It, therefore, cautioned the public “against engaging with unauthorized persons or agencies and online job portals in relation to job offers at the Legal Aid Commission. Anyone who does so, does so at their own risk.”

It also urges the general public to report suspicious job offers to the Commission or law enforcement authorities.

“Official vacancies, when available, will be published in the dailies on our official website www.lac.gov.gh,” the statement said.

Checks by Fact-Check Ghana indicate that the job vacancy advert in circulation was done by the Commission in 2019 and is now being recirculated by these online platforms.

When Fact-Check Ghana contacted the Executive Director of Legal Aid Commission, Ghana, Mr. Edmund Foley, he said the last time the Commission recruited was in 2021.

From the facts adduced above, the Legal Aid Commission, Ghana is not recruiting staff. The advert being circulated should therefore be disregarded.
