Fake! CNN Has not Declared Akufo-Addo Winner of December 7 Elections

A viral photo (screenshot) on social media has suggested that the American broadcaster, CNN, has announced Ghanaian president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the president-elect following Ghana’s December 7 elections.

Fact-check Ghana has verified the claim and concludes the photo is fake.

Explanation: Our checks indicate from the website, social media pages and TV platforms of CNN indicate that the broadcaster has not made any such announcement. Indeed, the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the body mandated by law to call the elections, is yet to announce the winner of the Presidential elections.
Further, a quick search online indicates that the photo is a template which has previously been edited and used by many platforms to announce different pieces of information.
