Current COVID-19 Hotspots in Ghana as at May 29, 2020

Data available from the Ghana Health Service as at midday of  May 29, 2020 indicates that Ghana’s confirmed COVID-19 cases stand at 7, 616. These confirmed cases are out of a total of208, 328 tests. It must be noted that the number of tests is different from the number of persons tested.

Below are some areas (metropolitans, municipals, districts, constituencies and towns) that have been identified by the Ghana Health Service as COVID-19 hotspots as indicated by the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Patrick Aboagye, during a media briefing on May 21, 2020 and updated on the dedicated COVID-19 webpage of the Ghana Health Service as at May 29, 2020.

A. Greater Accra Region: So far, 26 districts have been affected in the Greater Accra Region but the following eight areas are the main hotspots. In the Greater Accra Region, hotspot areas are place with case counts above 200.

  1. Tema Metropolitan
  2. Korley-Klottey constituency
  3. Accra Metro
  4. Kpone Katamanso constituency
  5. Ayawaso East Municipal
  6. Ablekuma Central
  7. Ayawaso North Municipal
  8. Ayawaso West Municipal

B. Ashanti Region

  1. Kumasi Metropolitan
  2. Kwadaso Municipal
  3. Obuasi
  4. Suame
  5. Oforikrom
  6. Aboaso
  7. Old Tafo
  8. Asokore Mampong

C. Western Region

  1. Secondi-Takoradi Metropolitan
  2. Tarkwa
