Fake! BBC has not Reported on the Use of Military in Ghana’s Elections

A photo with a news headline “Ghana’s peaceful election dented for the first time. Opposition refuses to accept the largely flawed election” which is alleged to be coming from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has since gone viral on social media.

Fact-check Ghana has verified the headline in the viral screenshot and has concluded that the photo is fake.

Our checks on the BBC.CO.UK website and Social media pages indicate that the renowned news portal has not published or shared any news item with such a headline on the aftermath of Ghana’s on their website and social media pages.

Fact-check Ghana’s search further indicates that original image is from a previous news item the news organization had published with the headline “Ethiopia’s Tigray crisis: How a soldier survived an 11-hour gun battle” on the BBC News Africa Facebook page. The image is what has been altered to propagate the fake
